Lexie smith
Lexie is a young professional that pulls from a lifetime of hardship.
Sexual abuse was a norm for her from toddler years and created a deep vulnerability for sex traffickers. From the age of 10-12, she was sold for sex just doors down from her grandmother's in the bedroom of the teenager the family had taken in.
Lexie shares her story of growing up exploited in the middle class despite a stable home. She discusses what it was like to not be believed and the effects of child abuse, exploitation, and trafficking on the mind, body, Spirit, and how to best come alongside survivors to promote restoration. Lexie facilitates an interactive session to help listeners identify gaps in resources and the logistics of addressing human trafficking, assisting victims, and narrowing their focus. Lexie offers survivor input on their project, program, and practices.

Title: Becoming an Advocate
Goal: Community Empowerment and Strategy
Description: The goal of this talk is to move a community from a curiosity into action. It’s designed for those who long to understand an issue and the guidance to start addressing it. Lexie creates a safe space for questions, conversation, and brainstorming. People walk into the room paralyzed with overwhelm, and out feeling like they understand the issue as well as what can be done about it.
This is something maybe to consider day rating with a 6-hour cap. I've had many people book me for a talk then feel the right to consume my entire day with free consulting expectations. I LOVE strategizing with leaders, helping give people a game plan, and in general hanging out with whoever has me out. I just need some boundaries around that and don't want my expertise to be taken advantage of.
